Lenten Stewardship ~ Change

Lenten Stewardship ~ Change

This Sunday’s readings are all about change!  God calls Abram to physically uproot himself so he can become the father of a great people.  Paul reminds Timothy that they are called to a new and holy life.  Jesus is transfigured on the mountaintop.  Change!

Lent means spring, and spring is a season of—you guessed it—change!  Lent is the annual awakening from spiritual dormancy.  It’s the time of renewal, repentance, re-creation, and rediscovery of our call to grow in love of our Lord and one another.

If I’m still the same on Easter as I was on Ash Wednesday, I have missed a huge opportunity to be more, to be better, to be transfigured.

What is God calling me to change?  Each of us will have a different answer.  Unless you’re perfect, there is something that needs to change.  What is it for you?  If you dare, ask your family; ask your friends; ask your coworkers.  None of us is perfect—except Jesus.  That’s why we have Lent.

If you haven’t begun your Lenten transformation, it isn’t too late to begin, but don’t wait too long.  Change takes time and effort.  It won’t happen overnight.

Thank God for Lent.  Enjoy the change!
