Children's Choir - About Us

Rehearsals for the Children’s Choir are going to look very different this year. We hope for a lot of growth in the program and have decided to separate grade levels and rehearsals so that students can receive better instruction appropriate to their age, as well as received individualized instruction. The new rehearsal schedule follows:

• 5^th and 6^th Grades: Monday, 3:00-4:00PM (Blees Center Music Room)
• 7^th and 8^th Grades: Tuesday, 3:00-4:00PM (Blees Center Music Room)
• 4^th Grade: Wednesday, 3:00-4:00PM (Blees Center Music Room)

Rehearsals begin the second week of school (August 19, 20, 21) Permission forms for the Children’s Choir can be found here. 

Students who wish to serve as cantors are required to participate in the appropriate level of choir, and there will be auditions for the cantor positions. 4 students per grade level will be selected as cantors based on auditions. The auditions for cantors will take place in September and more information will be posted on the church’s Music Ministry page. (www.bscky.org/Music-Ministry)

Cantors - Expectations and Requirements

Students who wish to be cantors for school Masses must pass an audition and are expected to be members of the age appropriate level of choir. Auditions for cantors are held the first week of September. a Maximum of 4 students per grade level are eligible to be cantors. 

The audition will include a prepared psalm, chosen from the document linked below. Repeating pitch patterns, and figuring out the range of the singer.
